Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gryogon Augustine Grimah, has assured residents of a peaceful local government election, scheduled for November 2. Following a high-level security briefing, chaired by the state governor, Senator Prince Edet Otu, Grimah highlighted the state’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for the electoral process.
Addressing the media after the meeting, which included the Deputy Governor and senior officials from various security agencies, Grimah emphasized the importance of thorough preparations. “Our objective was to strategize in advance to ensure a peaceful election. Cross River is known for its peaceful disposition, and we are confident that this will be reflected during the election period,” he stated.
Grimah assured voters that they could freely participate, as extensive security measures were being implemented across the state. He noted that all security agencies were working in concert and had fully mobilized resources to safeguard citizens and uphold public order during the voting process.
In his remarks, Grimah also issued a warning to individuals contemplating any form of electoral disruption. “For anyone considering interrupting the peace and order of our state, I advise against it. We are a peace-loving people, and I call on everyone to support a peaceful election, which is in the best interest of Cross River State.”
He further reassured residents that, with the coordinated efforts of the security agencies, the elections would proceed smoothly, allowing citizens to exercise their right to vote without fear. Grimah encouraged the electorate to embrace the prevailing atmosphere of peace and come out to vote.
Also present at the meeting were the State Security Adviser, Major General Ubi Obono (retired), and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, who joined other officials in reviewing security strategies for a successful electoral process.
